The Rev. Prelate Edmund Sikorski graduated from the High School no. 2 in Brodnica in 1965. In the same year he entered the Seminary of Pelplin. In 1966 - 1968 he was drafted as a seminarian to com pulsory military service, JW. 4413 in Bartoszyce. He served for two years in the same platoon as Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko. He was ordained as a priest on May 21, 1972 in the parish church of Brodnica. After completion of the Seminary and ordination, the Rev. Edmund Sikorski worked as a priest in several parishes, in Bydgoszcz - Fordon in the Church of St. Nicholas (1985), Bydgoszcz - Fordon in the Church of St. Matthew (1985-2008). In 1985, as a parish priest, the Rev. Edmund Sikorski started organization of a parish and construction of the Church of St. Mathew , Apostle and Evangelist, 4 Skarzyńskiego Street in Bydgoszcz, and a parish center. He personally supervised progress of works. During the period of democratic changes, the Rev. Edmund Sikorski supported NSZZ Solidarity and during martial law in 1980-1989 he actively supported people who were repressed. Starting from 1985, in his activity as parish priest of St. Mathew’s Parish, he has organized many charitable campaigns, pilgrim ages and camps for the young people from Fordon. He has also been involved in educational activities, cooperating with schools. Since 1990 to this day, i.e. for 30 years, he has worked as chaplain of the Sokół Gymnastic Society. In 2017, by the decision of the President of Poland, he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant of the Polish Army.
