Aleksander Fredro, Bydgoszcz, teatrAbstrakt
The publication is a chronicle of performances of Aleksander Fredro’s plays on the stage of the Bydgoszcz Theater in 1919-1993. Fredro wrote many plays and a dozen or so of them became regular plays of the theater repertoire, repeated many times (The Revenge, Ladies and Husars, Maidens’ Vows, Man and Wife). The theater engaged such notable directors for its productions as Ludwik Solski, Antoni Siemaszko, Zofia Modrzewska, Stanisław Dąbrowski, Kazimierz Szubert, and Kazimierz Korecki. Due to an extensive period of time of the issue, it was important to highlight historical, social and political aspects of Bydgoszcz, as well as the history of consecutive managers of the theater, starting from the touring activity of Ludwik Dybizbański to the six-year term of Andrzej Marczewski.
