The sculpting composition Deluge from Bydgoszcz, for which Ferdinand Lepcke received the title of professor of fine arts, has not only its own narrative, but also philosophy. It is deeply rooted in German Romanticism, but is also based on Nietzscheism, whereas these days it is even associated with existentialism. The essence o f this philosophical thought is to limit the sense o f life to a moment and perpetual fighting against adversity. The Bydgoszcz Deluge shows the reverse, the dark side of the Biblical story about the Deluge. It preserves in bronze a moment before the final solution.
