Andrzej Koszewski - muzykolog i etnograf

The scientific activity of the outstanding Polish composer, Andrzej Koszewski, is presented in two parts. The content of the first part covers the main facts of the private life of Professor Koszewski and a detailed description of his professional career. The author reminiscences also about his own personal contacts with the composer having this opportunity as a director of the Cathedral Choir Boys - Man “Pueri Cantores thorunienses”, and as President the Polish Union of Choirs and Orchestras (PzChiO) in Warsaw.
The second part of the presentation is devoted to Koszewski’s musical compositions based on folklore and also to his musicological publications. There is a complete list of all his compositions inspired by folk music and culture that originated from various regions of Poland; prior to its presentation the author explains the etymology of expressions: ethnography and ethnomusicology. In addition, the presentation includes a detailed collection of articles authored by Koszewski that are systematized in the following sections: I. Publications devoted to the music of Chopin; II. Pedagogical publications; III. Publications on modern music; IV. Editorial works; V. Autobiographical statements and reminiscences; VI. Comments on concert programs.
