Abstract

Cruise tourism can be defined as a subcategory of passenger liner transport taken with recreational and educational purpose in mind. A cruise excursion on inland waters can be a major tourist attraction. Apart from the cruise itself, tour operators also provide catering and guide services. There are approximately 4000 km of water routs on Polish rivers, canals, lakes and reservoirs. The central section of  the Oder in Wroclaw is the area were public transport dates back to 1968. The waterway infrastructure of Wroclaw, together with its transportation system and substantial tourism resources of the city provide good conditions for the development of cruise tourism and are becoming important elements of tourists’ interest. At present, Wrocław’s cruise ships can transport up to 722 national and international tourists at a time travelling as groups or individuals.
