Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to present the history and organizational structure of the Municipal Civic School (Stadtische Burgerschule) in Bydgoszcz founded in 1860, operating since 1911 as a nine-grade Municipal Middle School for Boys (Stadtische 9-stufige Knaben-Mittelschule). The article presents its function and place in the education system of Bydgoszcz when it was annexed
by Prussia.
