Maciej Obremski was born on February 1, 1952 in Bydgoszcz. He graduated with a degree in history of art from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. During his conservation career, he worked in the branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kórnik, in the Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz, and the Historic Site Conservation Studio in Toruń. In 1989-1990, he worked as the Municipal Conservator-Restorer of Historic Sites in Bydgoszcz, and since 1991 - the Regional Conservator-Restorer of Historic Sites. In 1998, he became the chairman of the Society of the Friends of the City of Bydgoszcz. During the second term of Mayor of Bydgoszcz Konstanty Dombrowicz he worked as his deputy. He was an expert on culture and arts, publicist and storyteller. Such popular sculptures as Man Crossing the River and Master Twardowski appeared in the city on his initiative. He died on April 21, 2015 and was buried in the Ostromecko cemetery on April 24, 2015.
