Organ music and its significance in the Bydgoszcz music culture

Abstract

Presentation of organ music concerts taking place in Bydgoszcz was limited to the most important events, i.e. the Festival of Young Organists and Vocalists, the Bydgoszcz Organ Evenings, the Summer Concerts of Organ and Chamber Music, and the Campaign “Let’s Save Organs.” They are hosted by five Bydgoszcz churches. All of them became regular items in the calendar of events of the city. The group of organists who have given concerts in the city includes authorities in liturgical organ playing and concerts. a significant problem is the poor technical condition of the Bydgoszcz organ instruments, which does not allow for full utilization of their qualities and requires comprehensive protection of the most valuable instruments. These instruments are of fundamental importance during organization of artistic events related to organ music.
