Files of Roman Catholic Church institutions kept by the State Archives in Bydgoszcz

Abstract

Files of Roman Catholic Church institutions constitute obviously part of the archives creating the collections of the State Archives in Bydgoszcz.They were presented in the following groups, taking into consideration their position in church administration and rank: chapters and decanates, Roman Catholic parishes along with parish records, and monasteries. A brief introduction was featured in the beginning of every group.The condition of preservation of these archives diff ers a lot. Some collections contain only one unit, whereas other ones feature several hundred units. Files of each of the described institutions of the Roman Catholic Church have been recorded in archives and have book inventories. The mentioned materials are also available in the national archive service “Search in Archives,” which publishes data coming from the Integrated Archival Information System (Polish abbrev. ZoSIA) and the portal Genealogy in the Archives.
