The fates and life choices of the last owners of Ostromecko, the von Alvensleben family, could be the plot of a drama, in which the tragedy of people intertwines delicately with a melodramatic episode, when the former wife of Joachim von Alvensleben, in order to free her husband (whom she divorced 20 years before), reports to the SS that her son Albrecht (a member of the SS) is not purely Aryan. It was written by a Polish countess who settled down in the Bavarian city of Oberstdorf. It is only one, small example from the history of the von Alvensleben family, which did not have an easy life. The lack of sufficient and reliable studies makes that we will probably never know the motifs guiding the last owners of Ostromecko. For now, there is more questions than answers. It is a pity that no detailed monography was written about the von Alvensleben family. This article is only an attempt to systematize information that is available, combined with signaling discrepancies regarding the facts from the life of the last administrators of Ostromecko.
