Bydgoszcz on the screen in the first postwar years (1945-1949)

There are not many films testifying to the prewar and immediate postwar history of Bydgoszcz. It resulted mainly from historical circumstances, German occupation and the destruction of film culture, but also the later shift of decision-making toward the model of national cinematography. The latter one treated regional topics objectively and marginally. Nevertheless, the article describes Bydgoszcz as a location of a dozen or
so documentary features, edited in the series of the Polish Film Chronicle, shown in movie theaters nationwide. Some of them can be seen in online repositories.
