This article is dedicated to the role of the Pomeranian Art House in Bydgoszcz in rebuilding of exhibition activities after World War II. The studies covered the years 1946-1956 and focused on determination of the schedule of exhibitions held in that period. Bydgoszcz hosted 129 exhibitions in that time. The political and economic situation had a great impact on Polands cultural life. From 1948 to 1953 shows were dominated by artis- tic activities carried out based on the principles imposed by the doctrine of socialist realism and had clear propaganda overtones. One shall also remember about the culture-forming and integration role of this institution, which showcased works of members of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers of the Pomeranian Region, students of the State High School of Visual Art Techniques in Bydgoszcz, folk and amateur artists. Studies based on archival documents and local newspapers from 1946-1956 show the dynamics of an exhibition movement, its diversity and influence on the formation of an art community after World War II.
