Opera radiowa Romualda Twardowskiego

Romuald Twardowski is one of few Polish composers with many stage compositions in his artistic output. his ballets and operas were performed on the stages of many Polish theatres. On commission of Polish Radio in 1968 he composed a radio opera titled: Upadek ojca Suryna (trans. The fall of father Suryn). The libretto to the opera was based on the story by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz Matka Joanna od aniołów (trans. Mother Joanna from the angels). In this opera the music tradition is mixed with the contemporary harmonics and melodics. Twardowski also used the capabilities of radio technique of those times. The opera was recorded in the studio of Polish Radio in Cracow and the radio premiere was on 3 December 1969.
