The article on the relations between archeology and film is an attempt to show various aspects of this issue using historical, comparative and anthropological methods. In addition to film archaeological fantasies, there are examples of reliable imaging of archeology in feature films. They are even more exquisite in documentaries. The visualization of archaeological monuments exceeds the framework of a classic film. It falls within the scope of digital technologies and three-dimensional digitization of archaeological objects. The most advanced is the (not) obvious archaeological metaphor of the past of the media and film. Comparing all the analyzed situations, we come to the conclusion that our procedure was based on the formula of the hermeneutic circle, leading from a pre-understanding of the relationship between archeology and film in popular
culture, explaining the importance of these relationships in archaeological documentaries and digital imaging of archaeological monuments, to a proper understanding of the relationship between archeology and film in the contemporary concepts of media archaeology.
