Peer Review Procedure for Articles Submitted to the Biannual Journal Dogmatyka Prawa
The editorial office of the journal Dogmatyka Prawa conducts a preliminary assessment of submitted manuscripts to verify their relevance to the journal’s profile and their compliance with editorial guidelines.
Manuscripts that meet formal requirements are subject to a two-stage peer review process.
The first review is internal and is carried out by a managing editor appointed individually for each submission based on subject-matter expertise. Authors are obliged to take into account the comments and recommendations of the managing editor.
Articles accepted at the internal review stage are then submitted for external peer review.
Each article is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers from outside Kazimierz Wielki University. Reviewers complete a review form, which is available on the journal’s website. [Annex 1]
For texts submitted in foreign languages, at least one of the reviewers is typically affiliated with a foreign institution.
The external review process follows the double-blind principle, ensuring the anonymity of both the authors and the reviewers.
Each review must include an explicit recommendation either to accept the article for publication or to reject it.
The managing editor ensures that the author addresses the comments and suggestions indicated in the reviews.
The condition for acceptance of a manuscript for publication is the receipt of two positive external reviews. In exceptional cases, the editor-in-chief, in consultation with the managing editor, may decide to accept a manuscript based on a single positive external review.
Once a year, the editorial board publishes an updated list of collaborating reviewers on the journal’s website.
The peer review procedure adopted by the journal complies with the guidelines of the Polish Ministry of Science as outlined in the publication: Good Practices in Peer Review Procedures in Science. [Annex 2]
The journal has implemented procedures to prevent academic misconduct, including cases of “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship.” Accordingly, upon submission, the author is required to submit a declaration confirming the independent authorship of the manuscript and the non-infringement of third-party rights. [Annex 3] In the case of co-authored works, information on the individual contribution of each author must be included.
Authors are also required to declare that their submissions are original works and have not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere in any form.
The journal’s scientific board oversees the alignment of submitted articles with the scope of the journal and the proper conduct of the peer review process.
