Abstract

Biographic article Janusz Korczak. Between Poland and Palestine presents the life and work of a prominent
Polish pedagogue and writer Janusz Korczak during the time of his travels to Palestine in the ‘30s. At that
time, the ‘Old doctor’ had a dilemma, because he was split between his fatherland and the land of Israel that
he dreamt about. On the one hand, he was impressed with the hard and heroic work done by Jews at the
Holy Land, but on the other hand, he felt alienated there. Eventually, Korczak who was tired with his life in
Warsaw and the anti-semitism which was apparent there decided to move to the new fatherland – Palestine.
His destiny was different and he died on the Polish ground.
