Social problems require careful examination, discussion and trying out innovative solutions.Scientific research
plays a significant role in this process, however it is important that it is conducted in an ethical manner. This
has particular significance as improper conduct may impact not only the persons being researched, but also
other values subject to moral judgments. The article presents the adopted theoretical assumptions and
undertaken research activities that aimed at constructing a tool measuring the ethical preparedness of future education professionals to conduct diagnostic research. The proposed scale enables the verification of this competence based on broader criteria than the usually invoked moral standards like “firstly do not harm the research subjects”or“treat research subjects as persons”. The conducted trial research allowed for an evaluation of the constructed scale’s reliability and theoretical validity.
