The article introduces the notion of causality in relation to the process of parental upbringing. It presents previously unpublished results of research on parents causality in relation to preschool children, which were a part of research concerning parental competence of parents of preschool children. The relationship between parental causality and selected aspects of the situation of the family have been described. The study was conducted from 2008 to 2009 in Bydgoszcz and Inowrocław.
