Abstract

The article presents a proposal of a new concept of creative imagination, which revises and integrates the previous categories and research approaches. In the proposed model, creative imagination abilities are defined as a combination of three dimensions: vividness, the ability to create lucid and expressive images that are characterised by high complexity and level of detail; originality, the ability to produce creative imageries characterised by novelty and uniqueness, as well as the ability to transform generated imageries. Description
of the conceptual and theoretical framework of creative imagination plays an introduction role to the presenting
of a new measurement tool – The Creative Imaging Ability Test (CAT). Conjunctional nature of the model, on the one hand, and the specificity of the new test, on the other, is a basis for more general discussion about validity and usefulness of profile analysis of creative imagination in the educational diagnosis.
