Children’s World as Reflected in Their Statements Published in the Magazine “Płomyczek” of the Time of People’s Republic of Poland

Płomyczek of the time of the People’s Republic of Poland as a magazine for children was used as an educational aid, also in carrying out of the then ideological and educational programmes. In the 1960s, the 1970s and the 1980s through its developed correspondence section Płomyczek was to provide its readers with children’s description of the reality. However, it was not by chance that it happened to be identical with the world that the adults wanted to show to their children. The fact that the letters were written by children was to legitimize their contents for boys and girls who were reading them. Children’ letters to Płomyczek without no doubt show that their troubles and interests remain the same. They are fascinated by the surrounding world, want to learn all about their families, region, natural environment, history. On the other hand, children’s statements make it possible to read the image of the official culture of those days.
