Unity in diversity and difference in unity – the two-hundredth anniversary of Bronisław F. Trentowski’s birthday

Abstract

In 2008 we commemorated the two-hundredth anniversary of B.F. Trentowski’s birthday, in that case this is an outstanding occasion to indicate a problem of topicality of his philosophical pedagogy. We are dealing here with the original philosopher and educator, however not understood and underestimated, but in a great extent of his output, able to be entered to the current discourse of humanists, particularly educators. It is splendid that what we customarily consider as postmodernism (no claims against the absolute unity) was already a subject of Trentowski’s reflection, whose output can be resolutely compared with the output of the leading representatives of postmodernism, especially Wolfgang Welsch. It turns out that distance in time not necessarily grows us away from valuable thoughts and still current solutions being an attempt of pulling the pedagogy out of the orthodox grasp, without banishing the reason and the rationality at the same time.
