Research on emotions and childhood. Sociology of childhood and sociology of emotions studies

The article discusses the issues of both: the new sociology of childhood and the sociology of emotions. In other words, within the presented article the author summarizes selected elements of both relatively young sub-disciplines of sociology: the sociology of emotions and “new” sociology of childhood in order to answer there search question: what is the place and the meaning of child’s emotions and parents’ emotional attitudes in the study of childhood in terms of socio-cultural approaches. Thus, the author examines childhood studies in terms of children’s emotions and adults attitudes towards children. The article is based on two different perspectives of childhood research: the psychological and socio-cultural approaches. It is important to notice that the dominant role that psychology played in terms of researching child and its development continued until the 1980s. Achievements of sociologists, anthropologists and historian shave uncovered the multidisciplinary approaches to childhood studies regarding their diversity, cultural and social constructs.
