Abstract

In this article the authors present the results of research on organizational values in selected junior high schools.
The study involved 102 teachers from 6 schools. Based on the dominant cultural values and K. Cameron and
R. Quinn’s competing values framework, four cultural orientations were distinguished: (1) on human relations, which is the essence of mutual understanding and support, (2) on internal processes – this orientation is characterized by the dominance of values which are at the basis of a stable, predictable, hierarchical culture of schools, (3) on an open system – the school is focused on development, innovation and change, and (4) on rational goals – focus on achievements and actual results. Research results indicated that the analyzed schools are highly oriented on good relationships and the least focused on innovation and change.
