Dorpat’s and Minsk’s School of Psychology of Creativity – between Western and Soviet Thought

In the article, I discuss the research achievements of Estonian and Minsk’s scholars from the University of Dorpat (Tartu) and Minsk University in the field of psychology of creativity. T he scientific school was established in the 1960s as a response of the soviet side to the dynamic development of American psychology. The confrontation between the Eastern Bloc and the West included not only research in the field of the foundations of nature, military and space technologies, but also in the field of social sciences, including psychology and pedagogy. T he Estonian and Minsk’s school of psychology of creativity crossed the boundaries of Western and Soviet thought. An original concept explaining the phenomenon of human creativity has been created there.
