The Study Process of International Students in Social Studies in the Perspective of Students’ Experiences, Expectations and Postulates

The text addresses one aspect of the internationalisation of higher education, namely the participation of foreign students in the educational process. The article is based on the results of a survey aimed at solving a research problem concerning the specificity of studying educational migrants in Poland taking into account both their experiences, expectations and postulates for change. The research involved 113 people who completed an online survey questionnaire. The following components of the study process were analysed: the organisation and implementation of the process, the competences acquired and the ways of verifying the achievement of learning outcomes. The inference made indicates that the educational process experienced
by foreign students is characterised by variation, but is largely in line with their expectations and requires little change. Furthermore, the key expectations and demands for changes formulated by foreign students correspond to the perception of the university as an institution preparing for professional work and not a temple of knowledge.
