The role of occupational counselling at the level of grammar school is crucial, especially in the face of the changeability and competitiveness of the present-day educational and occupational market. The consequential decision-making difficulties result in a need to provide appropriate assistance, particularly for grammar school students. This article represents a comparative analysis of selected legal documents (both the currents ones and those which were binding previously – until 31 January 2011), based on which tasks should be managed by grammar school employees concerning occupational counselling. A review of key regulation in this respect indicates that the most important issue today is being neglected, that is the need to introduce a separate school subject aimed to deal with occupational counselling contents. The prevailing trends concerning counselling activities, as executed, show inconsistency between the guidelines and the potential of grammar schools.
