Between fascination and concern: future educators’ attitudes towards generative artificial intelligence in education – a report on original research

Abstract

In the face of dynamic digital transformation, the development of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) presents contemporary education with new opportunities and challenges. This report is based on a master’s thesis entitled “The use of artificial intelligence in education in the opinion of students of the Faculty of Pedagogy at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz.” The aim of the study was to explore students’ opinions on the use of GenAI in education. The research was conducted by means of a diagnostic survey on a sample of 61 students. The results revealed the ambivalent attitudes of future educators towards this technology, showing both fascination with its potential and concerns about the dehumanisation of education, technological risks, and ethical issues. A particularly important conclusion is the need to develop AI literacy skills in the education of students of pedagogy. The effective integration of artificial intelligence into education requires not only technical preparation but also critical and ethical reflection.
